My Approach
My teaching approach is data-driven, structured and student-centered.
Literacy Instruction
The Orton-Gillingham approach is a cognitive-science based approach to reading and writing instruction that was developed to re-wire the brain and remediate symptoms of dyslexia.
This approach is necessary for struggling learners, and beneficial for all learners.
In each session, I will be recording quantitative data of your child's progress, allowing us to hone in on your child's knowledge gap and fill it with zero guess-work.
Our 4-Step Framework
1. Assess
We start with a baseline assessment to formulate our goals
2. Gain Skills
Your child will gain the vital language skills to be a strong reader, speller and learner
3. Apply
Apply these tools in the classroom and daily life
4. Refine
Continuously refine our program to meet your child's ever-evolving needs
My Teaching Values
The foundation of my practice is based on my teaching values.
-
Consistency
Consistency is key. We meet minimum 2x/week to re-wire and grow the brain, like a muscle!
-
Hard Work
I believe in roll-up-your-sleeves kind of hard work. It's not just about sweating it out, but also about the satisfaction that comes from knowing you've given your all to achieve something worthwhile.
-
Kindness
Kindness and respect set the stage for our sessions. It's all about creating a safe space to learn, grow, and have fun doing it.
